I started dancing at the age of 6 and was hooked from my very first class and as a junior dancer took my medal examinations. On becoming an adult member at my dance school I started to assist in teaching classes progressing to becoming a qualified teacher in Ballroom, Latin American & Freestyle. I have many years’ experience of teaching adults and children from beginners to advanced including Teacher Training. I am also a qualified Zumba instructor.

As well as being a professional teacher I am qualified to adjudicate and have also lectured a number of times for the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA). The most important thing for me in teaching is for my pupils to enjoy themselves whilst learning.

I started dancing at the age of 20 then I went on to take medal examinations and entered competitions, winning several regional events and making finals in national events. After a few years of competing I decided to start teaching and this has been the most rewarding part of my dancing career. I have gained valuable experience over the years from teaching beginners, competitors and teachers. I think it is important to teach well whilst making it enjoyable.

As well as being a professional teacher, I am a qualified adjudicator. I have also lectured for the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA) numerous times for their international conferences and regional lecture days.

I also serve on the committee for the IDTA South East Ballroom area for over 15 years, of which I am currently serving my second term as Chairman.

In 2019 we also won the IDTA Inventive Dance competition (Latin Section) for our Sequence dance Salsa Sizzle.
